Travellers are reminded of the increased risk of demonstrations and protests in Côte d’Ivoire. Protest action by members of the Ivorian armed forces took place across the country in January and May 2017. Further protest action has been threatened by non-military elements during the 2017 Francophone Games, which will take place in Abidjan from 21 to 30 July 2017. Avoid protests and large public gatherings as they have the potential to turn violent. In the event of further protests, monitor local media, exercise vigilance and follow all instructions issued by local authorities. The level has not changed. Exercise a high degree of caution in Côte d’Ivoire overall. Higher levels apply in some parts of the country.
