After a series of attacks since the beginning of May 2017, the Kenyan Government has instituted an overnight curfew in Mandera, Garissa, Lamu and Tana River counties from 6.30pm to 6.30am. This curfew currently excludes the islands of Lamu, Manda and Pate. Political rallies and protests are expected in the lead-up to general elections scheduled for 8 August 2017. Avoid political rallies and protests as they may quickly turn violent. The level of this advice has not changed. Exercise a high degree of caution in Kenya overall. Higher levels apply in some parts of the country.
