On 25 July 2017, the US Government advised its citizens that the US Consulate General in Karachi has temporarily cancelled all official and unofficial travel of US government personnel traveling to and from Jinnah International Airport Karachi (KHI) until further notice. US citizens have been advised that the risk for violence at or near this location is elevated at this time. On 24 July 2017, a bomb blast in Lahore resulted in multiple fatalities and injuries. Exercise heightened caution. Avoid public gatherings, crowded places, places of worship and locations frequented by foreigners. Follow local advice. Monitor the media for developments that may affect your safety and security. The level of advice has not changed. Reconsider your need to travel to Pakistan overall. Higher levels apply in some parts of the country.
