Papua New Guinea (PNG) recently held national elections. There are some tensions in the post-election environment and possible disruption of flight schedules and transport services. Election-related protests in the vicinity of Mt Hagen Airport (Kagamuga) have caused road blockages resulting in flight cancellations and periodic closures of the airport (See Safety and security). The level of advice has not changed. Exercise a high degree of caution in Papua New Guinea (PNG). Higher levels apply in parts of the country.
